Privacy Policy

Roami ("we", "us") is an independent city-discovery app. This policy explains what information we handle, why, and the choices you have. We keep it plain and we collect as little as we can.

Information we handle

Location. With your permission, the app uses your device location to show places, events and routes around you. Your precise location is used on your device to centre the map and find nearby results. We do not sell your location or build an advertising profile from it.
Account information. If you create an account, we store the details needed to run it (such as an email address and profile name) through our backend provider, Supabase.
Content you create. Posts, photos, saved places and reviews you choose to add are stored so the app can show them to you and, where you choose, to others.
Activity for app features. Step counts and check-ins used for the rewards features are handled to make those features work.
Basic technical data. Standard information needed to deliver and secure the service, such as app and device type.

AI features

Some features use third-party AI providers (currently Groq, Cerebras, and GitHub Models via Microsoft Azure) to generate tips and recommendations. When you use an AI feature, we send only what is needed to answer, such as the name and category of a place, your question, and rough area context. We do not send your exact GPS location, your identity, or your account details. You are asked to consent before any AI feature sends data, and you can change this in the app's settings.

How information is used

To show you relevant places, events, transit and recommendations.
To run accounts, social features and rewards.
To keep the service working, safe and free of abuse.

Partner and booking links

Roami may show affiliate links to partners (for example accommodation, attractions and transport). If you book through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. When you open such a link, you are subject to that partner's own privacy policy.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers needed to run the app (such as our backend, map, and AI providers named above), and where required by law.

Your choices

You can allow or deny location access at any time in your device settings.
You can turn AI features on or off in the app's settings.
You can report or block other users' content within the app.
You can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us.

Data retention

We keep information only as long as needed to provide the service or as required by law. When you delete your account, we remove associated data within a reasonable period.

Children

Roami is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
